Welcome to the Investing News Network's weekly look at the best-performing Canadian mining stocks on the TSX, TSXV and CSE, starting with a round-up of Canadian news impacting the resource sector.
On Monday (August 10), Transport Canada introduced the Commodities Sectoral Support Program (CSSP), designed to support rail and marine shipments of eligible Canadian steel products.
With C$100 million in funding, the program will provide companies with a 50 percent rebate on the costs of interprovincial transport after any other discounts or incentives.
The CSSP is meant to ease some of the strains faced by the steel sector due to increased tariffs imposed by the Trump administration in the United States. The program is set to run until the C$100 million fund runs out, or until August 2027.
Also on Monday, Barrick Mining (TSX:ABX,NYSE:B) and Newmont (NYSE:NEM,ASX:NEM) announced that they reached an agreement in their dispute over the Nevada Gold Mines joint venture, which is split 68.5/38.5 between Barrick and Newmont.
The amended terms will include assets that were previously left out of the agreement, including Barrick’s Fourmile and Newmont’s Fiberline and Mike projects. Newmont will also provide US$1.95 billion in consideration to Barrick for the addition of Fourmile.
The Nevada Gold Mines joint venture is one of the world’s largest gold producers, with more than 2.5 million ounces of gold annually. The additional development properties will strengthen the project pipeline.
Barrick and Newmont have been working to amend the terms of their joint venture ahead of Barrick’s proposed spin-off and initial public offering of its North American gold assets, including its stake in Nevada Gold Mines.
Barrick will maintain a majority stake in the new company, while floating a 10 percent minority stake.

Markets and commodities react
Canadian equity markets were positive this week.
The S&P/TSX Composite Index (INDEXTSI:OSPTX) gained 2.56 percent over the week to close Friday (August 14) at 36,381.23, while the S&P/TSX Venture Composite Index (INDEXTSI:JX) rose 8.78 percent to 954.90.
The CSE Composite Index (CSE:CSECOMP) gained 8.32 percent to 161.84.
Precious metals climbed significantly this week. The gold price gained 5.85 percent to close at US$4,343.33 per ounce on Friday at 3:00 p.m. EDT, while the silver price performed even better, closing the week up 7.65 percent at US$63.53.
In base metals, the Comex copper price recorded a 1.42 percent increase this week to US$6.59.
On the other hand, the S&P Goldman Sachs Commodities Index (INDEXSP:SPGSCI) was down 2.22 percent to end Friday at 668.58.

Mineral companies within the non-energy minerals, energy minerals, process industry and producer manufacturing sectors were considered.
1. NV Gold (TSXV:NVX)
Weekly gain: 87.5 percent

NV Gold is an exploration company advancing its Slumber gold project in Nevada, United States.
The property, located in Humboldt County, consists of 85 lode mining claims and hosts epithermal gold mineralization.
Its 2025 drill program, a five-hole, 964.7-meter step-out campaign, extended mineralization at the site. Results included a highlighted interval grading 0.43 grams per metric ton (g/t) gold over 28.95 meters.
On August 6, NV Gold announced it had acquired a mining and exploration lease covering 1,500 acres of private land adjacent to the Slumber property, which connects the areas hosting the Awakening target to the north and the Slumber target to the south.
The company also announced a 5,000 meter drill program at the Slumber project set to commence during the first week of September and run for six to eight weeks. The program will consist of 20 to 30 holes targeting depths of up to 375 meters below the surface.
On Tuesday (August 11), NV opened a non-brokered private placement to raise C$1.4 million. Funds raised during the offering will be used to finance the upcoming drill program and general working capital.
2. Baru Gold (TSXV:BARU)

Developer Baru Gold is advancing its Sangihe gold project in Indonesia. The company holds a 70 percent stake in the 42,000 hectare project, with the remaining 30 percent interest held by three Indonesia-based companies.
According to an updated mineral resource estimate published in February 2025, the Sangihe project hosts an indicated resource of 114,000 ounces of gold and 1.93 million ounces of silver from 3.15 million metric tons of ore with grades of 1.12 g/t gold and 19.4 g/t silver.
It also has an inferred resource of 91,000 ounces of gold and 1.08 million ounces of silver from 2.3 million metric tons of ore with grades of 1.22 g/t and 14.5 g/t respectively.
In March of this year, Baru shared an update on the project as it advanced towards production, including progress on its application for approval of production operations. The company was also planning first gold pour at its production plant, which is being built with a modular design that would allow Baru to scale output by adding modules.
On Thursday (August 13), Baru reported it completed the application to Indonesia's Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, including all requested documentation. The ministry confirmed nothing further is required and that the application is in the final processing steps.
3. BCM Resources (TSXV:B)

BCM Resources is an exploration company working to advance its flagship Thompson Knolls project in Utah, United States.
The greenfield copper, molybdenum, gold and silver project in Utah's Great Basin consists of 225 federal unpatented lode mining claims and two state section leases covering an area of 2,242 hectares. Exploration of the project area began in the 1970s, when a US Geological Survey aerial survey identified a prominent magnetic anomaly.
BCM is currently performing diamond drilling at the site, and on August 6 announced it had encountered over 550 meters of mineralization in one drill hole with a highlighted 155.4 meter interval grading an average of 0.66 percent copper, 0.12 (g/t) gold and 7.4 g/t silver, starting at a depth of 588 meters.
The company noted that the hole was the most strongly mineralized to date, and the system remained open at the current depth of 1,238.4 meters. It is continuing to extend the hole even deeper, and plans to drill its next hole further to the west where it believes mineralization extends.
The news landed BCM in first place on last week's top stocks list with a 229 percent gain. While the company hasn't released further updates, its share price continued climbing this week.
4. Goldbank Mining (TSXV:GLB)

Goldbank Mining is an exploration company focused on its Leota gold project in the Yukon, Canada.
The site hosts 1,049 active quartz hard rock claims in the Eastern Klondike Goldfields near Dawson City. Leota has a long history of exploration, with the first claim on the site being staked on Last Chance Creek in 1903. Golbank's most recent exploration program at the site concluded in October 2024.
The company’s most recent news came on July 28, when it announced that shareholders re-elected James Boyce, Luis Botto, Kevin Addie, John Brydle, Frank Garofalo and Jerry Lozynsky as company directors at its annual general meeting. Boyce will also continue his role as President and CEO.
5. Antimony Resources (CSE:ATMY)
Weekly gain: 59.09 percent
Market cap: C$68.23 million
Share price: C$0.70
Antimony Resources is an exploration company advancing its Bald Hill antimony project in New Brunswick, 60 kilometers north of Saint John.
Bald Hill, which consists of 26 claim units within the Annidale Belt, hosts antimony-bearing stibnite mineralization and sporadic gold mineralization. The company believes it is one of North America's highest-grade antimony projects. While the site does not yet have a completed mineral resource estimate, an exploration target estimate reported potential average grades of 3 to 4 percent antimony.
On August 6, Antimony Resources reported results from a four-hole drill program carried out at the Main Zone. One hole produced a highlighted interval of 0.65 meters grading 13 percent antimony and 2.22 g/t gold.
Then, on Friday, the company announced that it had observed visible gold in a drill core at the Central Zone. A portable X-ray fluorescence device used at the time returned a grade of 285 g/t gold at a depth of 165.85 meters.
FAQs for Canadian mining stocks
What is the difference between the TSX and TSXV?
The TSX, or Toronto Stock Exchange, is used by senior companies with larger market caps, and the TSXV, or TSX Venture Exchange, is used by smaller-cap companies. Companies listed on the TSXV can graduate to the senior exchange.
How many mining companies are listed on the TSX and TSXV?
As of March 2026, 906 mining companies and 71 oil and gas companies are listed on the TSXV, combining for 64 percent of the 1,524 total companies listed on the exchange.
The TSX is home to 176 mining companies and 50 oil and gas companies. The exchange has 2,149 companies listed on it in total.
Together, the TSX and TSXV host around 40 percent of the world’s public mining companies.
How much does it cost to list on the TSXV?
There are a variety of different fees that companies must pay to list on the TSXV, and according to the exchange, they can vary based on the transaction’s nature and complexity.
As of April 2026, the listing fee alone will most likely cost between C$10,000 to C$70,000, and accounting and auditing fees could rack up between C$25,000 and C$100,000. Legal fees are expected to be over C$75,000 and an underwriters’ commission may hit up to 12 percent.
The exchange lists a handful of other fees and expenses companies can expect, including but not limited to security commission and transfer agency fees, investor relations costs and director and officer liability insurance.
These are all just for the initial listing, of course. There are ongoing expenses once companies are trading, such as sustaining fees and additional listing fees, plus the costs associated with filing regular reports.

Investors can trade on the TSXV the way they would trade stocks on any exchange. This means they can use a stock broker or an individual investment account to buy and sell shares of TSXV-listed companies during the exchange's trading hours.
